Edinburgh CloseUp is a temporary public collaborative installation. Advocates Close will become a constructed space of multiple use; a landscape that invites social interaction and engagement with the site, its users and its history. In exhibiting sculpture and installations in a temporary public garden, and adjacent spaces on Advocate’s Close, we encourage the creation of site specific work by international and local artists with backgrounds in visual art, architecture and landscape design.
The proposed spatial installations will need to respond directly to the site; representing a shared artistic interest in the creation of independent artwork which reflects the state of contemporary settlement in an urban environment.
We thus encourage artists to propose pieces of refreshing spatial organisation; small interventions, architectural (de-)construction, but also collaborative projects that could include work with local community groups and citizens (please see website for partner organisations).
Please study the visual and theoretical material that we will issue on our website and provide us with the following information (via email):
Curriculum vitae
Portfolio of work
(not more than 8 pages, we are particularly interested in site-specific work)
Draft proposal for work
Please note that artists are fully responsible for setting up and taking down work at the given dates as well as maintenance of artwork (if necessary) during the exhibition.
Due to limited funding we can not cover any costs related to transport, fees and material.
